The inception of the C.A.O. Cigar began in 1994 when Cano met Carlos Torano and Nestor Plasencia, two Cuban ex-patriots with the love of tobacco leaf in their blood. Their goal was to create the finest cigar in the world by carefully selecting only the best of premium tobacco leaves from Central America. In 1995, the C.A.O. Cigar was unveiled to the public and the first shipment immediately sold out. In 1996, the C.A.O. Gold Line from Nicaragua was introduced to rave reviews. Garnering accolades from publications such as Cigar Aficionado and SMOKE Magazines, the C.A.O. Gold quickly found its place along side other established premium cigars as a top-seller in most tobacconists' humidors. The C.A.O. Gold line was soon noticed outside of the cigar industry, as well. Fox Sports sought out the C.A.O. Gold Cigar as the exclusive cigar sponsor to several of their famous All-Star Cigar Celebrations, such as the 1997 Super Bowl XXXI Celebration as well as the 1997 Major League Baseball All-Star Party.
